Mission Statement

"By establishing and supporting the operation of small community-based teaching libraries that develop literacy skills in a safe, fun, nurturing environment, Little Libraries offer hope to needy children and their families in communities around the world."

Vision

After many years of working on humanitarian projects in Africa, Haiti and Brazil, Doreen Wicks was very familiar with the lack of educational opportunities for poor children. She wanted to help. In 2002, she established the Little Libraries program.

It was Doreen's vision that every Little Library is a free community resource where every child's experiences would inspire them to be, all that they can be.
