Born To Read

In 1995, the Born to Read series, written by Ben Wicks, was published as practical literacy guides that present strategies to help parents and caregivers to encourage children to read and learn. Each book in the series is dedicated to the idea of encouraging parents and caregivers to transform daily life into a vital learning environment for their children.

The series titles are:

BORN TO READ WRITE AND COUNT
BORN TO READ AND COOK
BORN TO READ AND SURF
BORN TO READ AND SHARE ONLINE

The Born to Read series benefited from partnerships with The National Literacy Secretariat and Laubach Literacy of Canada as well as financial and in-kind support from more than twenty-five Canadian corporations. The Born to Read series has been endorsed by parents, teachers, principals, school boards and every provincial Ministry of Education across Canada.

In 1999 the online version of the Born to Read series was developed.
