The Board of I.Can Foundation wishes to announce that as of July 31, 2012, we will be dissolving our charitable work. On a happy note, we are proud to acknowledge that, with the help of our extensive list of partners, we have accomplished so much. Ben and Doreen Wicks would be so proud to know that their foundation has touched the lives of so many children around the world. Over 50 libraries will have been started or aided since 1999.
Our final initiative is a lofty one! Trusting that all events will fall into place, by September 1, 2012, 35 schools in the remotest areas of Swaziland will have the beginnings to a school library. We are shipping in - mid June a 40 foot container filled with close to 20,000 catalogued library books. The container will also hold school supplies, furniture, clothing and medical supplies. www.booksinhands.com This initiative will fulfill the “ask” made by a school master in Bhalekane. The reality is that the schools of Swaziland have no books. Teachers must teach from memory what they learned as children. We trust that our support will assist in bringing literacy opportunities to over 20,000 children in the remotest and poorest areas of Swaziland. Thank you supporters, partners and donors for your generosity in helping us to make the contributions we have over the years.
